The last meeting of the INQUA-SEQS (Bern, September 2005) allowed people from geology, palaeoecology, palaeoclimatology, and geochronology to meet and face old problems, such as the theory of past glaciations, with a new light. The Milano conference will contribute to compare the Quaternary history from the different sides of the Alps and of Europe, by removing geographical and language barriers. The Alpine region can be reconciliated within the European stratigraphic framework integrating relative and absolute chronologies and building up common reference scales. Scientists and students from outside the topic area are welcome in that they provide the independent knowledge to distinguish the effect of global events from local signals. The Quaternary evolution of the Alps and of related sedimentary basins is considered a reference for the many mountain ranges of the Circum-Mediterranean, European and Asiatic regions, including e.g. the North Africa, the Iberian peninsula, the Carphatians, the Middle East, and the Pontic, Taurid, Armenian chains. Contributions from all these countries are welcome. Date 11 - 15 September 2006 Lieu Italie :: Milan Contact Cesare Ravazzi, CNR - IDPA, FAX +39 035 6224260 Pour citer cet article :
